Duration: half day
Take a step back into Australia's past during this picturesque orientation tour of Tasmania, a land rich in history, wildlife, flora and fauna
Highlights: Bonorong Wildlife Park, Richmond
FULL LENGTH TOUR DESCRIPTION
Your first stop is the Bonorong Wildlife Park, renowned for its incredible array of Australian native animals including the Tasmanian Devil, kangaroos, wombats and emus. You will also see koalas, which will no doubt be sleeping as they do for around 20 hours in each day. You will have time at leisure to stroll around the park with your guide or independently at your own pace. At each natural habitat enclosure an animal keeper will be stationed periodically feeding the ever hungry inhabitants of this stunning park and providing you with all the fascinating facts and answering your questions. Plenty of time is allowed at Bonorong to ensure you see all the animals and take all the photographs you would like.
Re-board your coach for a scenic drive through the countryside, and travel through the area where Tasmania was first settled. A stop will be made at the historic convict village town of Richmond, which has changed very little over the last 120 years and offers some great photo opportunities as well as an insight into Australia's early history. You will stop here for a stroll around this pretty town with your guide followed by some free time to continue your explorations. Browse the quaint stores, explore the local arts and crafts shops or enjoy a refreshment (own expense) in one of the little charming tea houses before reboarding your coach for the drive back to your ship in Hobart.
