Surfing is a worldwide sport and with some of the most stunning beaches in the world it is not surprising that surfing is one of the biggest outdoor leisure pastimes for all Australians, young or old.
   
Meet your professional surfing coach at Nobby’s beach, right in the heart of the city of Newcastle with a spectacular headland between the beach and the harbour to learn to surf today.  Nobby’s Beach is a very safe beach and offers a perfect place for you to learn how to surf, sheltered from the prevailing winds and larger swells.  The beach has Lifeguard Services, change rooms with showers and toilets and a kiosk is available for snack and drinks.
   
Rhys Smith, born in Newcastle has been surfing for 17 years and operating his school since 2000. Rhys has a passion for surfing, has competed internationally in the World Qualifying Series and has been coaching surfing for many years. With his coaching staff, all of whom are fully accredited with the highest qualifications, Rhys will teach you in small groups how to surf. You too can be part of the fun, exhilaration and freedom of surfing. All coaches are local surfers who have a passion for the sport and all work and/or compete professionally in surfing events.
   
You will learn how to paddle, safely handle your board in the surf, stand up, turning skills and surfing conduct. Very importantly, when surfing, you need to learn to understand the local sea conditions, tides and prevailing winds. The class will also show you how to choose equipment to suit you.
   
Bring your swimsuit and towels and be prepared for a lot of fun whilst learning how to Surf.
   
SHORT LENGTH TOUR DESCRIPTION

TIMING BREAKDOWN
00:00 - Depart from pier
00:10 - Arrive at Nobby’s Beach for fitting into wetsuits or rash suits, sunscreen, rubber Malibu boards. Safety briefing
00:30 - Lesson commences on the sand and then moves into the water
01:50 - Conclude lesson, change out of wetsuits or rash suits, showers available
02:10 - Depart Nobby’s Beach
02:20 - Return to the ship

OPERATIONAL NOTES
 - Includes shipside collection, touring in air-conditioned coach with professional driver and professional surf instructor, sunscreen, rubber Malibu boards, wetsuits or rash suits and leg ropes
