FULL LENGTH TOUR DESCRIPTION
Disembark from the ship and proceed for an orientation tour of Chennai City passing through the city’s highlights, including the Fort, Madras University, Marina Beach and St. Thomas Church. Before returning back to ship, make the most of a short stop for souvenir shopping.

Located on the Corromandel coast of Bay of Bengal, Chennai, also once called Madras, is the fourth largest city in India. Its regal Tamil Hindu temples, colourful shrines and sturdy forts mingle with the sights, sounds and bustle of a modern city. From crowded bazaars to its pristine beaches, Chennai commands your attention and awaits discovery. It is not unlike looking through a kaleidoscope of treasures and traditions.

Stroll Pondy Bazaar or Ranganathan Street to strike up a bargain on local goods and crafts. India is well-known for its exquisite silks and beadwork, and you're sure to find a deal in the markets. After some time to shop, head to Marina Beach whose walkway of 2½ miles is lined with intricate statues of Tamil leaders and culture. On the south end of the beach you'll find San Thome Basilica, originally built in the 16th century.

Tour the Government Museum for a glimpse into either pre-historic or contemporary history or take a nap beneath the Adyar Banyan Tree, one of the largest in the world. It measures over 250 feet across in every direction.

- Marina beach is usually crowded in the evenings and no restaurants are available
- Activity level is Mild: this is basically an orientation tour wherein guests would do a drive around tour and stops will be made at monuments for photography. During the tour guests would only be getting down at Pondy Bazaar for a stroll or to collect some souvenirs
